SYNOPSIS OF THE LIFE OF JOHN KAY compiled by APK

John Kay is believed to have been a weaver from Yorkshire. On September 22nd 1774 he married Mary Collins, who was born in 1750, at St Andrew by the Wardrobe, London. His burial is recorded as being on January 2nd 1780 at St Anne, Soho, London. At the time of his burial his address is given as Hog Lane, Soho; which later became known as Crown Street, Soho, Middlesex. John and Mary had at least three sons Their first son was John Thomas, who was baptised on November 5th 1775 at St Anne's, Blackfriars, London; their second was Charles Samuel Morris Kay, who was born on March 17th 1779 and baptised on April 4th 1779 at St Anne's, Soho, London. Charles Samuel Morris was apprenticed to a Collins on October 2nd 1793, who may be related to his mother. At the present time nothing is known of a third son.

Although little is known of John it is hoped that more information will shortly be forthcoming.
